Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi has said that the visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Islamic Republic of Iran today and tomorrow takes place in the midst of a new phase of positive regional relations.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat<\/a> newspaper said the official visit to Tehran stems from the significance attached to bilateral relations by the two countries\u2019 leaders.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe visit comes in pursuance of constructive cooperation and consultation about different issues on the regional and international arenas,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a well-known fact that Oman and Iran have developed historical relations of good neighbourliness based on firm principles of mutual confidence and respect,” he added.<\/p>\n

Sayyid Badr said of His Majesty’s visit to Iran: \u201cIt is a step forward in enhancing consultation and cooperation to address many current issues that will undoubtedly be the topic of discussion between the two leaders, \u201d adding that such discussions seek to consolidate security and stability.<\/p>\n

The Foreign Minister said that the visit confirms the attention that His Majesty accords to relations between the two countries and their peoples.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe in the Sultanate of Oman are optimistic that this historic visit will reflect positively on the region\u2019s stability and security and that its outcome will be beneficial in regional and global terms,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
