{"id":1344,"date":"2021-03-31T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-31T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/archive.fm.gov.om\/1344\/"},"modified":"2021-03-31T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-03-31T00:00:00","slug":"un-secretary-general-thanks-his-majesty-for-support-of-yemen-peace-process","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.fm.gov.om\/en\/1344\/","title":{"rendered":"UN Secretary-General thanks His Majesty for support of Yemen peace process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations has issued a statement thanking His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for his support for the efforts to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in Yemen.<\/p>\n<p>In the statement he notes that: \u201cOver the years the Sultanate of Oman has played an important role in building bridges for peace in the region, including in Yemen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statement continues: \u201cIn particular, I am grateful to His Majesty, Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik Al Said, for his constructive and essential support to my Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths. Mr. Griffiths is working to secure a nationwide ceasefire, the re-opening of Sana\u2019a airport, and the regular flow of fuel and other commodities into Yemen through Hudaydah port. He is also working to move to an inclusive political process to reach a comprehensive negotiated settlement to end the conflict.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to reiterate that no efforts should be spared to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, to end the devastating conflict in Yemen and to pave the way for a just and sustainable peace.
